Level 3.1: The New Roommate

Level 3.1: The New Roommate

The New Roommate

Carlos had always lived alone, so when he got a new roommate, he wasn’t sure what to expect. His roommate, Jake, was an outgoing and considerate person. He was also incredibly talented at playing the guitar. “I hope we get along well,” Carlos thought.

At first, Carlos noticed that Jake was very easygoing and laid-back. He never complained when Carlos borrowed his books, and he was always willing to help with household chores. However, one thing bothered Carlos—Jake had a habit of talking about people behind their backs.

One day, Carlos heard Jake saying negative things about their neighbor, Lisa. Carlos felt strongly about honesty and decided to say something. “Jake, I think it’s better to be completely honest with people,” he said.

Jake looked surprised but nodded. “You’re right,” he admitted. “I shouldn’t say things like that.”

From that day on, Jake made an effort to be more direct. Over time, he and Carlos built a strong friendship. Carlos admired Jake’s ability to be open to change, and Jake appreciated Carlos’s honesty. They both learned that a good friendship is built on trust and respect.
